§01 · HERITAGE


Before it was software, it was a Cairo engineering workbook.

The studio began as the founder’s working calculation set — the Cairo engineering workbook used on 2.5+ GW of Benban-financed projects. What ships today is that workbook, productised: the same physics, the same conservatism, the same habit of showing its working.

And it is held to its own history: every release is regression-gated to within ±0.5% of that validated baseline. New capability can extend the model — it cannot quietly move the numbers.

§02 · THE PHYSICS


Hour-by-hour physics, not a rule-of-thumb multiplier

A yield figure is only as bankable as the model underneath it. The studio simulates the year hour by hour instead of stretching a monthly average over a calendar:

  • PVGIS typical meteorological year — all 8,760 hours simulated, so seasonal and daily behaviour is computed, not assumed.
  • A full hourly shading matrix — obstructions cost specific hours on specific days, and the model charges them exactly where they fall.
  • Bypass-diode mismatch modelling (Deline 2013) — partial shade is resolved at the submodule level rather than smeared into a flat derate.
  • String auto-balancing — strings stay inside inverter operating windows as the layout changes, without manual re-stringing.
  • A 3D roof scene — the array you sell is the array you simulated, on the geometry of the actual roof.

§03 · OPTIMIZATION


Name the IRR you need. It finds the design.

Most tools make you guess a layout and then tell you its return. The target-IRR optimizer works in the other direction: state the return the project must clear, and it searches the layout space for configurations that get there.

  • A 432-trial sweep across tilt, azimuth and row spacing — a systematic search of the layout space, not a single hand-picked guess.
  • Trials are scored against the target return, so the recommendation is the design that clears the hurdle — not the one that merely looked right.
  • The output is a defensible answer to the question an investment committee actually asks: does this design clear the rate?

§04 · THE ECONOMICS


Twenty-five years of cash flow, on the client’s actual tariff

The financial model starts from how the client actually consumes and what they actually pay — not a generic per-kWh guess:

  • Load analysis from whichever input the client can produce — a flat monthly bill or a full 12-month consumption profile.
  • Jurisdiction tariffs, so the savings line is computed against the rates the client is billed under.
  • 25-year NPV, IRR and payback — the full ownership horizon, with the assumptions stated where a reviewer can find them.

A finished design produces the full document set — for the bank, the approvals process, procurement and the person signing:

A design is only buildable if its components are procurable. The studio designs from a curated equipment catalog — with a CEC top-200 matcher for cross-checking selections against the CEC equipment lists — rather than free-text part names.

§07 · BANKABILITY, DONE HONESTLY


A methodology a credit committee can read.

Our feasibility output follows the IEC 61724-1 performance methodology, reporting P50 and P90 yield with documented uncertainty — validated for commercial bank-grade pre-feasibility. The numbers are traceable, the assumptions are stated, and the document is built to be defended in front of a financier.

Plainly stated: Voltara produces bankable feasibility studies on a documented methodology. Independent third-party tool certification (e.g. TÜV / DNV) and named-bank acceptance letters are on our roadmap, not claimed today.

§08 · INTO THE PIPELINE


Designs do not dead-end in a PDF.

“Send to CRM” lands the proposal PDF, the SLD, the costed BOM and a design snapshot straight on the lead. Sales reviews a diff banner and accepts or rejects the engineer’s refined values; when the deal is Won, the platform creates the project with the artifacts attached. The study you defended at credit committee is the file the site team builds from.
